Contact Us

We are always glad to hear from readers. Whether you have a question about something you read, an idea for a future article, or you think we have got something wrong, the best way to reach us is by email.

Email: desk@avrnottingham.com

There is no phone line or postal address for the blog. Email lets us read every message properly and pass it to whichever writer looks after that subject.

What we can help with

  • Questions about an article. If a section is confusing, or you would like a term explained, tell us which page you were reading.
  • Topic suggestions. Ordinary questions often make the best articles. If something about sleep, food, oral health, aches or quitting smoking has been on your mind, it may well be on other readers' minds too.
  • Corrections. If you spot an error, an outdated detail or a broken link, please let us know. Our page on how we fix mistakes explains what happens next.
  • Feedback on tone. If something we wrote felt unkind, alarmist or unclear, we want to know.

What we cannot help with

We are writers, not health professionals, so we cannot give personal medical, dental or nutritional advice, comment on your symptoms or test results, or recommend a treatment or dose. Please do not send photos, records or other private health details. If you are worried about your health, contact a doctor, dentist or pharmacist, and if it cannot wait, ring the emergency services.

Messages from companies are read as well, though questions from readers are answered first.

Helpful details to include

  1. The title or address of the article you are writing about, if there is one.
  2. The specific sentence or section, for corrections.
  3. How you would like us to address you in a reply.

When to expect a reply

We usually answer within a few working days. Correction reports are read first. If many people ask about the same thing, we may answer by updating or writing an article rather than replying to each message individually, but every message is read.

Your email and your privacy

We use your address only to reply. It is never added to a mailing list or shared. Details are in how we handle data.

Many questions we receive already have short answers on our common questions page, so it may be worth a quick look before you write.

This opens your email app with the message ready to send to desk@avrnottingham.com. Nothing is stored on this site.

Before you write

What readers ask about getting in touch

Will a real person read my email?

Yes. One of the four writers reads every message and passes it to whoever looks after that subject.

Can you look at my symptoms or test results?

We are not able to. Please contact a doctor, dentist or pharmacist, who can examine you and give advice that fits your situation.

I would like you to write about something. Is that welcome?

Very much so. Tell us the question you have in mind and roughly where you got stuck looking for an answer.

Why do some posts name brands or providers?

Because they come up in the topic. A named brand is not a guarantee, so compare options and check with a professional before you buy or book.

Something to add?

We read every message.
